Post-Summer Hair Rescue: How to Repair Sun, Salt, and Chlorine Damage

Summer on Vancouver Island is THE dream... long days at the lake, salt air off the Discovery Passage, and more sunshine than we get any other time of the year. But your hair, on the other hand, quietly pays for all of it. If you're heading into September with dry ends, faded colour, or straw-like texture at your mid-lengths, your hair isn't broken. It's just been through a lot.

What summer can really do to your hair if it's not protected

  • UV exposure breaks down the pigment in your hair (this is part of why brunettes fade brassy and blondes turn gold).

  • Chlorine and lake water strip the cuticle, leaving strands porous and thirsty.

  • Salt water dehydrates the hair shaft, which is great for beach waves, but terrible for long-term shine and hydration.

By September, the cuticle is roughed up, your colour has faded and maybe even looks a little out, and your ends feel rougher than the rest of your hair. Trimming alone won't fix it. You need to rebuild and treat.

The Envy Beauty Den Post-Summer Hair Rescue

  1. A trim, restyle, and freshen up - a professional-strength protein and bond-builder that reconnects the internal structure of the strand.

  2. Deep hydrating mask with heat processing to lock moisture into porous ends.

  3. Clear or tinted gloss to reseal the cuticle, refresh faded colour, and add mirror shine.

The result: hair that looks and feels like yours again.

How to keep the results

Once you leave the salon, home care is what makes it last. Ask your stylist to send you home with:

  • A good quality shampoo (one that protects your colour, hydrates, and wont weigh your hair down)

  • A bond-repair mask

  • A leave-in with heat protection - absolutely non-negotiable if you use hot tools
