Root Tap, Root Smudge & Root MeltThese terms are often used interchangeably, but they do have subtle differences:

• A root tap is a quick application of colour at the root to softly blur the line between your natural colour and lighter ends.

• A root smudge is slightly deeper and more diffused, creating a seamless, lived-in grow-out.

• A root melt blends the root colour into the mid-lengths and ends for the softest transition possible.

Your stylist will choose the technique that best suits your hair goals, maintenance level, and overall look.

Balayage vs. Foiliage

• Balayage is a hand-painted technique that creates soft, natural, sun-kissed dimension with a more lived-in grow-out.

• Foiliage combines hand-painting with foils to create brighter, more noticeable lightness while still keeping a blended finish.

Both are beautiful—it simply depends on how bright and bold you’d like your results to be.

What Is a Toner (or Toning Glaze)?A toner is essentially a glaze with colour added. Its purpose is to refine your shade by reducing unwanted tones (like brassiness or excess warmth) and enhancing shine. Toners do not lighten the hair—they perfect the tone. A glaze is a clear sealer to increase shine and balance your hairs porosity.
